There was an almost uncharacteristic quiet around the apartment complex, the typically windy part of town was still and Blaine watched the sky, quietly bored, but somewhat excited. Today was going to be good, she was sure of it.
Her eyes scanned the sky for any clouds that made familiar shapes, but they all just looked like fluff. She wished briefly that she'd told her soon-to-be-roomie to come earlier. Blaine had readied her two bedroom apartment for the other's arrival and found that it hadn't taken nearly as long as she'd expected it to.
So now she sat on the balcony, her eyes flitting between the parking lot and the sky above. She wanted to see her friend soon.
The minutes passed and felt like hours before she turned her eyes down at the sight of motion. A silver Honda pulled into the parking lot and she got to her feet, watching the vehicle from her place on the second floor.
The driver's side door opened and Blaine couldn't hold back a smile when her friend Sam stepped out of the car. From up on the balcony she yelled down to the other "About time you showed up!" Sam just looked up to her, waving her hand in a dismissive way.
Blaine went into the apartment and through the living room, out the door and down the stair's to the other's side. "I was just up there thinking of you," She said with a nod and Sam laughed at her.
"Yeah, well you can think about me more when you're helping me get my stuff up stairs," She shoved a box into Blaine's hands and the other girl mocked a pout.
The two took turns going back and forth to get boxes of stuff from Sam's car. Blaine had never realized the sheer capacity of her friend's vehicle.
Sam closed the door behind her as she entered the apartment, the last box in her hands. She made her way to her new room, placing it in the corner with the others and turned to Blaine, who was leaning on the wall.
Blaine smiled, "Welcome home."
This is a story about two chicks, one named Blaine and one named Sam.
